Stephanie Barclay, Artistic Director

Ms. Barclay has an exceptional foundation in classical ballet instruction, with teaching certification from the prestigious American Ballet Theater’s National Training Curriculum in New York City. She also has a rich history teaching dance in Sonoma County, most recently serving for 15 years as a faculty member at Santa Rosa Dance Theater, instructing all levels of classical ballet. In addition, she taught students in Ballroom and Character Folk Dance at Willowside Middle School, Oak Grove, and Gravenstein Elementary Schools for 9 years.

Stephanie began her ballet training at a small school in Marin County with Joan Edgerton, an original member of the San Francisco Ballet. She attended her first Summer Intensive at San Francisco Ballet School, then followed with a Summer Intensive at Indiana University’s renowned dance department training with ballet luminaries Melissa Hayden, Eleanor D’Antuono, and Ivan Nagy. After attending a Summer Intensive at Eglevsky Ballet in New York, she was invited to dance with the company under the direction of Michael Vernon. Stephanie was asked to dance with Oakland Ballet under the direction of Ronn Guidi after having been a member of his second company, Oakland Ballet Ensemble.

Following her career in classical ballet, she continued performing as a lead dancer for Royal Viking Cruise Line and in dance productions in Seoul, Korea and Taiwan. She served as choreographer for numerous musical productions throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, and currently directs her professional performing company Barclay Broadway Dance Company.
